Fly TNT victorious over FC and Fling but how long did they stay at the top of the Nottingham ladder......

Got there on Saturday morning after a freak falling food cupboard caused uproar a plenty in house TNT (Hardcore House) the previous night.  Mwnci See were our guests for the weekend and proved to be rather fun but rather smelly.

Here are our results, but don’t attack me if I got the scores a little wrong, and also I can’t really remember many details, so here goes.

Bigger Than You

lost 12-4

Our only convincing thrashing of the weekend.  They weren't all bigger than us but I would agree that overall they were generally bigger than us.

Flyght Club

won 9-8

The difficulty of our first game really woke us up.  We sorted out playing consistently and we got some great catches and cool stuff.  In particular Owen managed some sort of Ballerina style running catch to score.

Fling

won 10-1

We were playing against a team we really didn’t know.  Our zone seemed to stop them from doing anything and our increasingly fast O proved pretty much unstoppable.  This left us as the best team in Nottingham for an entire day! Oh what a day.

Light and Dark

lost 10-4

These guys won the tournament, they were very spirited though.  They weren’t particularly fast but they all had great disk skills and knew how to stop us doing what we like best- ISO.  Particular mention to Alice for an awesome endzone D to catch the picked up disc for a score.

Artic

won 9-7

We were totally bricking it for this game.  They were the school kids, and we knew they’d improved loads since last year.  We were losing 3-0 and we suddenly thought crap!  So we sorted ourselves out and put our zone on and pulled it away.  They had a brief comeback at the end but we managed to keep face.

Red

won 8-5

Our ex TNT friend Mikes team.  Proved to be a more convincing game the score suggests.

THE PARTY

It was amazing!  Hadn’t really been out properly since uni started so went all out.  We were doing frisbee vodka jelly races and loads of jazz like that.  Tunes courtesy of Steve were pretty rockin, when Apache came TNT went collectively a bit insane, and didn’t to stop dancing for the rest of the night, particularly Holly who failed to tell us that she was actually a member of Trent Dance.  An amazin night of salsa dancing, drunken spanish speaking and strawpeedos ensued.

Day 2

Team Rehab

lost 10-6

This was personally my favourite game.  I think we really scared them and put a lot of pressure on their O.  They managed to beat us but I’m not too sure how.

York Ultimate

lost 9-6

We had heard these guys were crap, but they weren’t! In fairness they only really had two good players, but we found their handling quite unstoppable.

Discharge

lost 8-5

We traded points with these guys as well, their superior consistency carried them through.

Mwnci See

won 10-1

Once again we put a zone on and they failed to adjust even after 20 minutes.  More importantly we played a hat point(bowler to be specific), finishing with an owen layout score.

Whipscar

lost 9-4

Proved to be a tense and energetic game against Oscar’s boyyos.  Once again, as in most of our games today, it started off really even and then they sussed out our weaknesses and we failed to adopt our game enough.

Flyght Club 7thvs8th

lost 10-5

This was the rematch! Clearly they had really tried to sort themselves out from last time and they beat us very well.  We were tired and they were beating us to the open side and we threw away quite a lot.  I guess this was a save face game for them, don’t tell Dan, but I managed to get a little piece of his.

All in all a really rockin weekend that we really enjoyed.  I am now feeling very positive about the rest of the year.  Most teams complemented us on our fast offensive and energetic D. Our biggest weakness was probably lack of consistency and calmness, but to be fair, playing like that is pretty boring anyway.

Big shout out to Holly (our beginner that we couldn’t tell was a beginner) and to alice and drew(get well soon homie) for pickin up as loughborough was on the same weekend.  YEAH TNT!

Gareth Brookes.  Captain.
