The first fling tournament of the year - Birnmigham Warm up Indoors

We set off on saturday morning to birmingham to take part in the indoor warmup tournament. We took a kind of development first team (by no means the first team for regionals) to what would be a challenging weekend with a lot of good teams in attendance. It was mainly to test out a few different and new tactics that we might be using come regionals and see how people would adapt to them.

The first game was against exeter uni who were seeded second overall out of the 12 attending teams. We let them get the first couple of points fairly comfortably but then woke up a bit and put in some really nice ones. Considering we were seeded 8th this was a really close game and we narrowly lost 6-4. Good stuff!

We lost the next game as well, cant remember who to. the next game we definitely lost. I think it was 8-1 to a team called SHAG. They had some very good players the likes of which won't be at regionals. They out played us all over but thats what experience does.

The last 2 games of the day we won against lemminton and birmingham unis second team. The birmingham game was fairly straight forward but the leamington game was quite a battle. A really good close game.

These results meant we held our seeding. We'd already identified a few key points to work on but weput all that behind us for the party which was of course proceeded by the rugby. What a game!!! absolutely shattered after that but then we donned our fancy dress and hit the students union. This mainly involved Aye-Aye throwing people around and insisting we try and outdrink them (apparently your brother can eat pints pretty well Rohan).

After an epic breakfast courtesy of lauras mum we faced Addicted to love, a pretty competent birmingham based team who had the measure of us unfortunately. this result put us into the bottom 4 but it did give us the chance of winning the plate.

The next 2 games were a repeat of of last 2 games on saturday with nearly identical score lines. So we ended up winning the plate (or guess who board game as it turned out). Basically we have learnt a lot from the weekend so we'll be ready to take on the rest of the midlands for regionals glory in a few weeks time. First team trainings will be announced soon for the next 2 weeks.

We're going to have at leas 3 teams at regionals. thats in the region of 30 people so keep your eyes peeled. Sign up out soon!!!! 2/3rd of november in nottingham.
